According to the legend, the first recipe of "mantecada" emerged in the 19th century in a convent of Astorga (Spain), in charge of a nun who lived for years in this community.

The "Mantecadas" from Astorga are artisan and traditionally made from flour, sugar, fresh eggs, butter and lard.
On their surface can be observed a layer of sprinkled sugar and some cracks produced when cooked.
Their texture is fluffy and their flavor is sweet and delicious.
They come in a wooden box which contains 24 units of approx. 21 oz
